After gaining valuable experience, graduates often move into a more advanced position, such as salon owner, professional salon consultant, make-up artist for television & movies, hair designer for magazine fashion models, cosmetic beauty advisor, or instructor.

Job Placement

The College of Hair Design offers job placement assistance to graduates and alumni. We maintain close associations with local firms, as well as with companies throughout the Midwest. Recommendations for job placements are also provided by the school and are based on the overall performance of the student.

As part of their training, students prepare resumes and practice interviewing techniques. Job fairs are also held at the school. During such events, salon owners and managers have opportunities to interview students individually. Students are scheduled to meet with as many prospective employers as they wish.

Students must understand that, by law, no school can guarantee employment upon graduation. However, it is the goal of the College of Hair Design to help students to be successful, to complete their programs, and to graduate as professionals.

What Do Our Grads Say?

I knew I wanted to be a hairstylist when I grew up because I felt the passion for it as a child. So when it came time to choose a school for my cosmetology education, I took a tour around CHD East Campus. I immediately felt passion there. The new, clean, and open design of the school was also a nice touch! The educators are passionate about what they do, and they care about each and every student’s career. Thanks to the Pivot Point program the College of Hair Design offers and the patience of my instructors, I learned a lot in a very short amount of time. CHD was inviting and exciting when I started school the first day, and it was just the same when I left on my graduation day.

It’s been over a year and a half since I graduated, and I’m now employed at Iasan and Sebastian Studio Salon as a level 2 stylist/makeup artist in Lincoln, NE. I very happily accepted my job at I’S salon just a few short weeks after graduating and have been there since. I’m proud of my accomplishments in my career as a hairstylist so far and I’m so happy I chose the College of Hair Design to help get me here!

I grew up loving fashion. It was always something I was passionate about. After working as a makeup artist for almost a year, I decided it was time to start hair school. I started at CHD in June, 2010. Back then, I never would have imagined how much the school and all of its instructors would impact me.

I graduated in August, 2011, and quickly landed my first job. Now, almost 5 years later, I am out on my own, working for myself. I have been published in Wedding Essentials magazine for hair, and I am pursuing a lot of other opportunities to get myself out there.

It’s been a lot of hard work and determination along the way. The fact that I was able to make it this far in my career is largely due to everything I was taught at CHD. The instructors are more than great. They become your friend, mentor, and most of all, your “CHD family.”

I have taken more then just my knowledge from CHD. I have taken friendships and a forever-lasting family. When you can walk in years later and still get the same welcome as if you were just there yesterday, that is something very special to have.

I chose to attend The College of Hair Design because I loved the exciting, welcoming atmosphere. It looked like a place where learning was fun! While in both the Cosmetology and Esthetics programs, I loved getting to use the innovative Pivot Point curriculum. It made studying stress-free! Being able to learn by actually working hands-on with clients gave me a taste of what my career would eventually become. I am currently using both my licenses working at The JCP Salon by Instyle. I also use my esthetics license at Massage Envy where I am working as an Esthetician and also a facial event planner! I love my career that I received from College of Hair Design!

The decision to attend the College of Hair Design for esthetics was perfect for me. After researching several schools, I knew that College of Hair Design offered the most hours and the best course of study. The instructors have real life experience. They have their own salons, built clienteles, and sold their own products and services. They also truly care about their students and want them to be successful. The school offers a beautiful spa environment to learn in. The classes are hands-on, and the curriculum is outstanding. The small classes mean that everyone helps each other, and I have lifelong friends because of it. I have successfully worked in a salon since graduating, and I am proud to have attended the College of Hair Design.
