Federal Student Financial Aid Programs
Federal financial aid is available to students who qualify, and those programs include:
Federal Pell and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG), Federal Stafford Student Loans and the Federal Parent Loan.
A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Pell Grants are considered a foundation of federal financial aid, to which aid from other federal and nonfederal sources might be added.
The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is like the Federal Pell Grant, in that it is not a loan but a grant that does not need to be repaid. The FSEOG program is for students with exceptional financial needs. You can receive between $100 and $4,000 a year, depending on when you apply, your financial need, the funding at the school you’re attending and the policies of the financial aid office at your school.
Federal Stafford Student Loans are low-interest loans made to students and often pay for the majority of a student’s tuition. Repayment begins 6 months after a student graduates or leaves the program. The first disbursement of this loan will be made 30 days after the borrower begins school.
Federal Parent Loans are low-interest loans made to parents to help pay for their child’s educational expenses.
You may determine your eligibility for any of the above federal loan programs by using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is available from our office, high school counseling offices or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Federal Financial aid awards are contingent upon student completion and the return of necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
Veteran’s Benefits
Students with qualified veteran benefits for approved VA programs may use them at College of Hair Design. Any student using veteran’s benefits will be charged the same tuition amount as all other students.
State Student Financial Aid Program
Students eligible for Federal Pell Grants may receive small amounts from the State Scholarship Assistance Program (SSAP) and the Scholarship Assistance Program (SAP). Additional help may be available for those who qualify from Vocational Rehabilitation, and Veterans Administration.
